Three Programmes, Each Built for a Different Starting Point
Whether you are approaching the subject for the first time, preparing for an advisor meeting, or thinking carefully about the decades ahead — there is a programme designed for where you are.
Back to HomeHow Every Programme Is Structured
Each programme begins with a clear acknowledgment of where participants are starting from — not where the curriculum assumes they should be. The facilitator opens sessions with a question rather than a presentation, and the discussion is allowed to take the shape the group gives it, within a framework that ensures the core content is covered.
Materials are designed to be kept. The checklist from the Advisor workshop is a working document; the workbook from the Long Horizon programme accumulates over months. Nothing is handed out for the sake of appearing thorough.
All three programmes run in Chiang Mai at our Tha Phae Road study room, in small groups, without homework requirements or assessments. Participation is the only expectation.
Question-Led Sessions
Sessions open with a question, not a lecture. Discussion proceeds from the room.
No Product Sales
No financial products are offered, recommended, or mentioned during sessions.
Materials Worth Keeping
Printed and bound materials are designed for ongoing reference, not filing away.
The Beginner's Mind in Personal Finance
A four-session evening programme for adults 40+ who would like to revisit the basics of personal finance from the beginning, with no assumption of prior knowledge. The facilitator opens each session with a single foundational question — what is money for, what is saving for, what is investing for — and the discussion proceeds from there. Materials draw on Thai household examples. The pace is gentle; participants are welcome to stay quiet or to share questions as they arise.
- No prior knowledge required whatsoever
- Thai household examples throughout all four sessions
- Evening schedule — two hours per session
- Small group: six to twelve participants maximum
- Questions welcomed freely throughout
How the Sessions Progress
- Session 1: What is money for? Currency, exchange, and the idea of saving
- Session 2: What is saving for? Accounts, rates, and the role of time
- Session 3: What is investing for? Risk, return, and the difference between the two
- Session 4: What questions are worth carrying forward? Debt, insurance, and how to continue thinking
The Considered Conversation with an Advisor
A one-day workshop that prepares participants for productive conversations with licensed financial advisors and bank representatives in Thailand. The session walks through the questions worth asking, the documents worth bringing, the words and phrases worth understanding, and the patient practice of declining a recommendation politely when it does not suit one's own situation. Participants leave with a printed conversation-preparation checklist.
- Full-day Saturday workshop — approximately six hours
- Printed conversation-preparation checklist included
- Covers the vocabulary of Thai financial products
- Practice for politely declining unsuitable recommendations
- Small group discussion format throughout
Workshop Structure
- Morning: Understanding what advisors are selling and why, Thai regulatory context
- Midday: The questions worth asking, documents to bring, jargon to understand
- Afternoon: Practice conversations, using the checklist, polite but firm responses
Wealth Across a Long Horizon
A small-group programme of six monthly sessions on long-horizon thinking about household wealth — across decades rather than quarters. Drawing on long-running historical data from Thailand and other Southeast Asian markets, the programme considers compounding, the role of saving rates relative to returns, and the gentle work of staying the course through difficult market periods. A bound workbook is provided at the first session; participants update it through the months.
- Six monthly sessions — one per month across six months
- Bound workbook included — updated progressively
- Historical data from Thailand and SE Asian markets
- Focus on compounding, saving rate, and long-run thinking
- Group of maximum ten participants for depth of discussion
Monthly Session Themes
- Month 1: How wealth moves over time — the basics of compounding with real data
- Month 2: Saving rate versus return — which matters more and when
- Month 3: Thai market history — what decades of data actually show
- Month 4: Regional context — SE Asia beyond Thailand
- Month 5: Staying the course — what difficult periods feel like and how to prepare
- Month 6: The long view of your own situation — completing your workbook
